I suck. or rather...the boringest momma ever.
Last week, my 2 oldest had Spring Break. Baby Girl has hers (for playschool) this week. Imagine that.
Did we go to the beach? No. Did we go to the mountains? Nope. Did we stay at home? Yep. And I'm not a "staycation" kind of girl.
I really did have some "fun" day activities in mind to do, but it rained & was cold the whole week. And that's my story & I'm sticking to it.
So what did we do? I took them to the dentist.
You can send my Mother of the Year trophy Fed-Ex.
That was on Wednesday & on Thursday, I took Sass with me to my OB/GYN. That's always fun. (insert sarcasm. not because of the appointment, because of the company- she complains about everything!)
Then Friday, Retro & I took Baby Girl for her 2-week post-op in Atlanta. Remember that surgery she had that took all of about 30 minutes? $19,000. Instead of me forcing my brainy son to be a plastic surgeon, I may be insisting he be a pediatric urologist.
I was cool enough to insist we (without Baby Girl) go see HOP that afternoon. because I have a unhealthy attraction to James Marsden, especially when it involves candy & a talking bunny.
I* also took them (yes, all this time) to Monkey Joe's (indoor inflatables), the MS Walk & Smiley's Flea Market aka Biggest Hot Mess EVER for some quality entertainment during the week.
Hey. This way I don't have to try too hard this summer.
*with friends. I try not to take all three of them anywhere in public by myself. I need back-up.

I want to see that movie because I like Kaley Cuckatoo or whatever her last name is! It has been cold and or rainy here up here for days so it's been hard to get out.
I was just on the phone making an appointment for the ortho and the nurse asked me if I wanted to bring them in over an upcoming break. It took me a minute to think that one through, but I declined!
Don't worry about staycationing. You have to do that every so often or their expectations get too high. Take this opportunity to lower the bar my friend!!!!
You'll have a great summer!
You actually went to Monkey Joes of your own free will???? Like not because of some preordained birthday party invitation??? YOU do win Mother of the Year for that alone. I hate bouncey house fun horror places...hate 'em! I swear their mottos should be "you aren't having fun until someone bleeds"....not to mention all the stinky, sweaty kid feet germs the kids pick up on their hands then hug you will...ick! Can you tell...I am not a fan? LOL
Hahah!!! I feel like my spring breaks were like this when I was little! They'll survive!
Ours have a 2 day spring break this Thursday and Friday.. No time for a trip, no money for a trip we are staying home and I MIGHT take them up town to hang with friends HUGE MIGHT
One of the nice things about working? You don't have to entertain your kids. That's what daycare is for! LOL Although you do have to deal with the guilt which isn't so much fun.
People still go places for Spring Break? With small kids? We're home this week. No plans. Just hanging out. He shopped with me today. We'll hit the park and that's about it.
Trophy is on the way ;-). xoxo
Oh you have given me so much inspiration for my own children's spring break in 2 weeks! Currently I have two dentist's appointments scheduled and one follow up with the orthopedist- I am sure I can think up some more not fun things to do!!
I would go to see Hop for James Marsden - there is no shame in that
Doesn't sound that bad. Who doesn't love taking company to the ob/gyn?
I want to see Hop for the same reason. And you would want to put yourself in the ground if you lived in our house -- we do NOTHING!
as long as you will share the trophy with me. We had spring break the week before and it was yuck most of the time and we also stayed home. Hubby and I even took on thursday and Fri I wanted to do something but the weather didn't agree and neither did hubs :(
This is the 1st yr we've stayed home too. the boys went to FVSU Spring Day Camp for 4 days and didn't like to do 'work' there so on the 4th day they brought their school work so atleast they could get credit instead of doing the boring, time killing worksheets the girl made them do and then throw out! She should have thrown them away somewhere else where the children wouldn't have seen and realized it was a waste of their time. On Friday, one went to a doctor's appt and the momma guilt set in, so I took off the rest of the day and took them both to see Hop. We did go to Wrestlemania over the weekend but i don't count that as Spring Break. It was the 1st staycation and probably won't be the last. I do agree with the other post that kids need to learn the value of a trip. I think ours will be in for shock when they are an adult and realize how much a quick trip to Disney World will cost them!
I don't think you did badly at all!
Good grief, you're ambitious! After reading this, I'm exhausted and need a nap!
:)
I think that sounds like fun! Can't do something exciting every single day!
Sounds busy enough to me! My kids will spend the first part of the week with their dad and then we'll head straight to the beach. Want to guess they'll complain about not getting to spend any time at home???
I'm going through Spring Break now and trying to end it with the same number of kids I started it with.PLEASE...help...me...someone...
You and me...we're 2 peas in a pod. I've got dentist AND doctor's appts scheduled for me and the kids during our spring break in a couple weeks.
Good times never felt so good. Hey, isn't that a line from a song or something?
