Y'all feel sorry for me

...my dog died Sunday, so enter my giveaway.

Seriously though, my Yorkie, Fritz, passed away in his sleep Sunday afternoon.  He was 14 years old.

When I was 22, I paid $350 (of my own money or maybe Retro gave me some) for the cutest little puppy ever.  My bestie, Dre went with me to pick him out.  He was the hardest thing to potty-train.  About 6 months after I got him, Rhett & I got engaged & moved in together.
Sorry for the poor picture quality, I had to take a picture of a picture in a frame.

I assure you he was not in our wedding, but we did let him pose for a picture.  I was going to get him a tux, but my bestie, Bec talked me out of it.

I was going to post the picture here, but then I realized my wedding album is in my hope chest with a tv on top.

Nine years ago when we moved out to the farm, we let him be an outside dog due to the fact that he still wasn't completely house-broken. Or maybe he was, but we he got pissed, he would knock over the trash can & pee on it.  He loved being outside & would walk around the farm, we were so scared he was going to get hit by car.  Then he hurt his leg, that cut down on his traveling.  Retro said that saved his life.

He loved to ride on the golf cart.  If we didn't let him on, he would chase (or rather follow) us around till we let him on.  In May of 2008, was the wreck.  Baby Girl accidentally mashed the gas on the golf cart, hit my Tahoe & pinned Fritz' arm between the golf cart & truck.  Retro spent $1200 to "fix" him.  At this point, he was already 12.
For the past few months, he hasn't wanted to ride anymore.  He turned 14 on January 7th. None of us really got all that upset, even the children, because we knew it was coming.  He's in a better place now, a place where he can run again.

Now that you are feeling sorry for me, please go enter my Kodak Photo Book giveaway.

I'm really sorry about your loss. It's hard to lose a beloved pet...14 years is a lot of love.

But you're right...I'm sure there's comfort in knowing he's catching frisbees in that great dog park in the sky.

I'm so sorry. My co-worker just put her dog down yesterday, and she was really torn up about it too. I can only imagine how sad you and your family must be. He was such a cute little guy.

So sorry for your loss. Our pets are just like our children. I remember the accident. In fact, I went back and looked at the post and I had commented. Just think, your sweet puppy is running and playing in doggie heaven. Hugs to you! Love & blessings from NC!

I'm so sorry about Fritz. My Pekingese, Bonsai, is 15 and lives with my parents. (I got him when I moved out the first time and when I moved out the second time, my mother said I was NOT taking him with me--he was her fourth "child.") He is deaf and losing his eyesight, but his "smeller" still works and he comes alive when he smells a new person in his vicinity. I know he is beginning to fail, but I/we aren't ready to let him go yet. They become such a part of your family and you hate to see them go, even when you know they are in a better place.
