Prince & Princess (x2) Picky Eater or I'm Queen Short-Order Cook

I don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings, I have reason to believe that my children are some of the pickiest eaters ever.  Your little may not eat their peas, but I've got one that won't even eat carrots.  Who doesn't eat carrots?

And aside from my disgust for raw tomatoes, I am very much a foodie.  Take a look at what I fixed myself for supper last night

Yes, it's the same thing I fixed last Sunday night, but it's my favorite.  Steak, loaded mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus & Bearnaise sauce.  And yes, I do watch too much Food Network.  I fixed this fancy gourmet (I use that term loosely) & I'm the only one that ate all of it.  Nobody else in my house eats asparagus, imagine that, Retro is on the Devil's Adkin's diet so all he ate was the steak.  Sassy ate some of her steak, but complained because it wasn't a New York Strip cooked medium. (It was a rib eye cooked medium well, because I got tied up refereeing a fight. That she caused.)  Baby Girl ate her steak then asked for some more, but she doesn't eat potatoes, not even french fries.  What child doesn't eat french fries?  I've got two.

And Bo?  He may be THE pickiest eater EVER.  He eats grilled cheese sandwiches, most breakfast foods with the exception of eggs.  He has never since day one eaten eggs. Strawberries, chips (especially gross nacho cheese Doritos), ice cream, chicken nuggets & Chick-fil-a chicken sandwiches with NO pickles.  That's about it.  And sometimes fish.  Oh & alligator.  He won't eat carrots, but he'll eat alligator tail.  Fried not blackened. blackened is too salty (spicy).

Sassy will eat several grown-up foods like steak, beef tenderloin, crab legs, lobster, shrimp, calamari, Olive Garden salad; but she won't eat sauce on her spaghetti.  And one thing that really gets my goat (like that I went all Southern on y'all) is that she WILL NOT eat leftovers.  Once it goes into the refrigerator, she won't touch it.  Crazy.

Baby Girl is my best eater, but here lately all she wants is soup.  Campbell's character soups; ie Dora, Cars, Princesses, Toy Story, Shrek, whatever else.  That child loves some soup.  That & carrots & ranch.  Maybe that's why her brother doesn't eat them, he can't get a chance to develop a taste.

My children are so picky, they don't even swoon over these gourmet cupcakes like I do.

I mean how weird is that?

I feel your pain. My kids won't even eat some kid staples like pizza and grilled cheese. My son won't eat carrots either.

Sass sounds like she's growing accustomed to tasting the finer things in life! Ha!

The cupcakes are to die for and we had steak Saturday night, too. Filet Mignons with loaded baked potatoes. I made Alise nuggets and sweet potato fries.

My twins are the same. One day they can't get enough spaghetti, the next time we eat it, they pick at it and barely eat any of it.

It's so good to know that there are other people in my shoes. My 3-year old doesn't eat hot dogs, pizza, burgers, sweets and the list goes on and on. Needless to say, he eats breakfast for dinner often!

You bring the gourmet cupcakes and I'll bring the wine and we can commiserate together over our picky eaters.

I'm so picky too and I'm in college! I'm actually really impressed with what Sassy eats. I live off of grilled chicken.

My kids won't eat leftovers either. And the oldest would eat soup 3 times a day if I'd let him. Honestly, sometimes it's easier to do that.

I can't believe your kids know the different kinds of steak...
my kids know the word steak, and mama likes it medium rare so that's how everyone eats it...
and when I say everyone I mean Blake and Hope...and maybe not even Hope...my kids are picky too...sucks..

If you give me enough notice to get there, I'll come the next time you cook that and eat the whole thing! I promise! :)

I'm with Bo on the Nacho-Cheese Doritios... it's an addiction of mine, but neither of my kids will eat soup of any kind... not canned, not homemade... depressing!

If my son was not the spitting image of my hubby I would be convinced he was switched at birth. The boy is SO picky, he has eaten mashed potatoes like twice and both times gagged and threw up!! OMG who doesn't like mashed potatoes? cheese yea nope, well except on pizza but I guess he doesn't count it as cheese ;) yea I don't get it either. McDonald's hamburger-NEVER had one and won't even entertain the idea. no sandwich meats so this makes packing lunch pretty boring-PB&J on most days, occasionally mixed up with something in the thermos but there are only a couple things that I can do with that.

We did better with #2 and she is little better eater but still not great.

the weird thing is they like weird things like fried green tomatoes or squash from the garden cooked my special way, oh and the only red meat we eat is deer!

hmmm, our kids might be related. They do eat carrots (raw), but no sauce on the spaghetti either. No hotdogs, bologna (I thought all kids liked that crap) and only cheese pizza (w/light sauce). No potatoes except french fries...the list goes on and on. And don't even get me started about Mr. Two...b/t his allergies and his pickiness, it's a nightmare! I'd love a cupcake however.

Wow, and I thought my kids were super picky...yours definitely are way pickier than mine. Actually I'd have to say my husband is as picky as your kids. He refuses to eat left-overs too...what's up with that? If you liked it the first time, you should like it the second time right?

And speaking of THAT, what's up with kids who LOVE a meal so much they can't get enough of it and then, say, 2 weeks later you make the same meal again and they hate it. And of course you were so happy that they loved it that you stocked up on it at the store...but now they won't touch it. Damn kids.

My 21 month old won't eat mac n cheese! Not one kind...homemade, Kraft, Velveeta, nada. But she will eat chickpeas. Cold, with blue cheese dressing. And any type of melon dipped in catsup. In fact, she will eat almost anything with catsup. Except mac n cheese!

My stepson doesn't eat any vegetables other than corn and potatoes - healthy I know!

Oh I feel ya! My son won't eat anything! Or so it seems because I'm constantly getting the food suggestion rejection.

But listen to this, he has a little friend that will only eat foods that are white (french fries, oatmeal, swiss cheese, white bread....)

I think of this every time he says he won't eat something and thank my lucky starts he still eats colored foods.

it's the little things (-:

My kids aren't too bad. They are actually in love with vegetables. The could probably live just off of raw vegetables for several days (especially my youngest 2).
My oldest is a Foodie and loves BIG made from scratch meals and gets a little irritated when I can't produce (um hello I was sitting at your softball practice!).
My little one loves those canned character soups - all I can think of is all the sodium!
If my children won't eat what I made for dinner they can have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. That is the only option. I will make it for my 4 year old, but my older two are on their own. About once or twice a week I end up making one for my little girl and even then she will try the main entree. Ever since I told my older two that they have to make their own sandwich they haven't even asked for it. They just suck up what I made.
Oh and my husband is super picky so I don't think my younger two will grow out of their pickiness.
I hope you weren't looking for advice :) Ha ha

New follower! Loving your name. I found if you don't feed your family all day they will devour anything you toss their way for dinner. Hope you have a minute to stop by my blog soon.

Did you make those cupcakes?? They look so good!! My kids aren't terribly picky, but they get a little opinionated when I try a bunch of new recipes - with too many vegetables. I have a niece who doesn't eat cheese. 9 years old and never like cheese. I hate it for my sister who never got to say "Oh, yeah, we're having grilled cheese sandwiches for supper" like she'd planned it all along. ha!

My son won't eat cereal. He wouldn't even eat Cheerios as a baby. What toddler doesn't eat Cheerios? He's now 8, as has never ingested a single O. He's not even the picky one of the family!
