Lady time or puberty talk around nine is my plan since I started at 10. Sex talk is either as soon as they ask or when I feel like they need it. Haven't picked an age.
My blog today is totally about "the talk". So funny.
I don't take any prescription medication.... or drink (I know). But this past weekend I was so close. David has been working Saturdays and with school starting I've had so much to do that I've had BOTH kids our running errands all day. I told him over dinner that I now understood why people drink.
Bring me a xanax, too!!!!!!!!!! Feel like I am gonna CRACK like an over done egg!
The talk did not come until the child start at an age were it is needed. I belive Brandon was around 11.
Did you know that if you do not hold the gun of the pressure washer "just right" it will blow mud ALL OVER YOU!!!!!!!! Plus the great and WONDERFUL husband forgot to tell me that he had undone the hose and I also got sprayed with water. Unfortunately for me it was in the wrong order of my "ordeal" today!!!!
If it makes you feel any better, I just decided yesterday to throw a sleepover party for my daughter's b-day Saturday. I'll wish you luck if you wish me luck :)
Oh! And 'the talk'... when it comes close (within a year) of puberty time - that's when I do it. Girls have to be super prepared for 'the change' and so do boys. (Although girls have it worse!)Plus, considering the fact that AFTER 'the change' girls can get pregnant - that's the best time to start preparing them!
Oh my dear friend .. I'm sure I've got something here that will help "temporarily" I think this one ... you have to go in strong, get all out in one breathe and then run .. yelling ..umm go ask your father!! Ok this adice is coming from a gal with a four legged fur-baby.. hope I made you smile... Hugs.. HHL
P.S. I've tagged you on my blog ... you'll find it here.. http://attitudeivlife.blogspot.com/2010/08/ive-been-tagged.html
I told hubby that he is gonna hafta have the talk with his monkeyness. God help me if we have a girl next. Mr. Man is gonna pay me back for that with her;o)
I want a Xanax!!! There are some days I feel good without the Wellbutrin but then there are some days where I think the only way I'll get through another day is with an anti-depressant fix!
My mom handed me the book Where I came From (or something like that) and basically said, "Here. Read this and let me know if you have any questions". I think I was like 9 or 10. All I know is it totally grossed me out to imagine my parents having sex.
If you find out when to have "the talk" let me know! Oh, and FYI, my daughter's peditrician told me American Girl has a good book about growing up and that type of thing!
I am a horrible speller. If the kids me how to spell something, half the time I just laugh at them. Yeah homework is really that bad. I totally agree.
I have been talking about sex, good touches, bad touches, boys vs. girls etc for about 5 years now. My oldest will be 13 next month. Now I don't mean I gave her the lo down when she was 8...I was pregnant with the boy and natural questions abounded so I built on previous conversations about body parts and the good and bad touches. Now it is more about morality. But yeah 8 or 9...and you don't have to go all out. You can seize a moment or build. If you make it easy to talk about they will have an easier time listening. Good luck.

I threw my wedding together in less than a month. After that I realized - anything is possible!

A party out somewhere would be easier to throw together than one at home, at least!

Let me know when you decide to have the talk. I'll be asking that question pretty soon I'm sure.
We had the talk in 5th grade.... I could do a whole post on the subject and maybe will.... one day.
Happy PINT!

I don't need to worry about "the talk" for 2 reasons:
My boys are only 2 and 4
and I already told Hubs its all him!

I absolutely dread "the talk"!
My son is 10 and I'm thinking that he needed to have The Talk a few months ago. I keep waiting for The TO to do it.
PS Got the Penguins stuff today. Thanks!
