Somebody may need to call Hoarders

Because apparently I am one.

I'm not talking about my house.  With the exception of all the things I save; newspaper clippings, programs, certificates & selected artwork, to one day scrapbook.  Who am I kidding?  I should just get 3 boxes & put their stuff in a box.  They can look through a scrapbox, instead of a scrapbook for a glimpse of their fabulous childhood.  or chunk it when I'm dead.  Whatever.

What I'm talking about is my email account.

I kid you not, I have spent HOURS the last two days deleting OVER 10,000 emails.  Hoarder much?

I don't know why I save them.  I don't know why there was so many.  Well, it may have something to do with the fact that I get emails from 4 different recipe sources (and I don't even cook that much), Crocs & 12 other places from which I've bought something.  My church sends out emails for prayer requests & such & we pray a lot because I get about 1 a day from there.  I'm involved in like 5 blogger groups, 2 blog-related social networks. and a mom group affiliated with the TV station.

I get emails every time somebody comments on my blog (that I don't mind AT ALL- keep 'em coming!).  For some reason, I never deleted the comments, even though I could read them any time on here!  And Facebook.  I must deleted 500 from Facebook alone.  Again, I could read the comments or find everything else on my page. Crazy.

Then there's the emails I get from my friend's stepdad.  He does kinda like a newsletter, but he sends out emails that he finds interesting, informative or just hilarious.  I do enjoy reading these, but my computer time is very valuable & if I read all of the 700 emails that I deleted, I would never have time for Bo to hog the computer to blog, read or comment & that wouldn't be cool, right?

I like to get these emails, however there was 1100 that were unread, but most of those I could figure out what they were by the subject. Hence the name semi-SLACKER. So I've downsized to just a mere 85 "important" emails in my inbox.

The reason it took so long and about gave me carpel tunnel was stupid now that I look back, was every time I get a large group of emails highlighted to delete something would happen & they'd unhighlight. It made me so mad! And dummy me let it happen several times. Finally I just deleted them individually, which was actually faster.  I'm sure there is another, more technically advanced easier way to do this, but I couldn't figure it out.  or maybe the people at AT&T don't think anyone is crazy enough to try to delete 10,000 emails in one sitting.

But you'd think after my last dealings with them, there'd be a note on my chart account.

Wow 10,000! I hate the facebook emails, I have to change my account settings at least once a month then it takes two weeks for them to figure it out and then they start again!

I'm the same way with my email! I do keep my blog email separate from my personal email though. That helps sorta I guess. Maybe not.

I have a confession...... when I first read the title I though you were going to blog about my cleaning out earlier today. Yeah, it's all about me on YOUR blog! Ha! Maybe it was the THREE beers I just had that made me think it was all about me. Lush.... go ahead and call me one, it's alright, it wouldn't be the first. 10,000??? HOLY COW! That's a lot..... ok, well, we're slackers, what else are we to do? I'm impressed you cleaned it out! Congrats!

I just spent several days sorting about 2000 pictures from 2 cards in my camera. It was either sort and delete them OR buy another card which I refused to do...lol. Btw...I ended up setting up a separate email address for my f/b. It really made it a lot easier to manage. I just click on "my favorites" and read the emails from f/b and I know all I need to know for....a few hours. ***Mitzi

I hate all the emails too, especially the ads. I just delete as I go but even that is a HUGE pain. I do hope you got my recent message on FB though b/c if I can help in anyway I am here for you!

I am the EXACT opposite! I hate to have emails or text messages in my inbox or phone if they are not absolutely vital. My husband says I'm paranoid someone will finally understand how I roll if they read my emails :) I think it's just a mild form of OCD.
