It's a minor MIRACLE...

that I did not lose what is left of my mind today!

In an act of pure desperation, I took all 3 of the children to not only the pediatrician's office, but also the dentist this morning!!!

All 3 of them have some sort of viral some-big-medical-word-that-I-wasn't-paying-enough-attention-to-remember-but-it's-apparantly-not-that-big-of-a-deal rash, that looks like tiny warts to me.  3 out of Dr. K's 6 or 7 children have it, so that makes it okay.  And I'm the kind who likes drugs medicine, so no dice.

Plus, Baby Girl wasn't quite feeling herself this weekend during the dance recital that's my story & I'm sticking to it. Seriously. So it was no suprise that she has yet another UTI, imagine that.  (She has issues down there.) And she can't stand the oh-so-yummy medicine that she has to take, so that's just a walk in the park right there.

The biggest shocker of the day was that we were in & out of Primary Peds in under 45 minutes. That is record time people!  Really it was only a little over 30 & we had to tt in a cup!

On the way out, I told Dr. K that we were going to the dentist next, then I was going to get a refill on the Xanax. I was just joking, I got a refill a few weeks ago but he agreed with me like I was serious. He knows these children so well.

The trip to the dentist was no picnic. What was I smoking?  Each of the children take their turn getting their teeth cleaned while the other two sit in the non-kid-friendly waiting room acting like fools!

Bo was first & he prize was a "wall-walker"- one of those sticky things that crawls down the wall.  While Sass was taking her turn, Bo & Baby Girl spent their time fighting over the thing, nearly hitting an elderly lady.  Good times.

Sass got a sand timer thingy, which appeased her & Bo for maybe 4 minutes. (It's a 2 minute timer.) Then it was back to the D.A.M.N wall-walker.  And to make an already long story not quite as long, by the time Baby Girl was finished that thing was stuck to the ceiling of the waiting room.  They scheduled us around lunch time.  Coincidence? I think not.

Then because Bo pitched a fit after I told him we weren't going to his favorite place to eat for lunch, we went to his favorite place.

This "favorite place" is a sandwich shop near the peds office (which is also near the dentist) where lots of business people in "downtown big city" eat lunch.  It is, however, a smidge more kid-friendly than the dentist office.

Bo loves their grilled cheese (the owner was kind of surprised by that, as that is NOT what they are famous for, nor is it even on the menu) & he & I would eat there when we were making numerous trips to the ENT.  Let me emphasize HE & I. That's me + 1 child. But since I was already smoking crack, I thought what the hell!

The second biggest shocker of the day- my children were actually very well-behaved.  We ate an entire meal without someone complaining, whining, crying, making snide comments or fighting.  As we were leaving (& before I could comment on their behavior) one of them (Sass or Bo) asked if they could get a reward for being good. Seriously.

When the aliens returned with my real children they spent the rest of the day fighting, calling each other names & crying. Back to normal.

And if Sass doesn't STOP wearing her sister's dresses as pleasant tops I really am going to lose it!!!

4 days till the beach. Have I packed? Not the first thing.

I don't know how you did it! I can't even take my 2 kids to the doctor without keeping a flask in my purse. It doesn't help that my oldest daughter screams at the sight of a white coat, which in turn causes #2 to go into hysteria too:(

P.S. When are you going to take that little one to the pediatric urologist?

Popsicles are the key to getting them to take the medicine. Let her suck on it a little bit then put in a little bit at a time with a taste of the popsicle afterwards.

WOW! I'm living the easy-life; I haven't gotten dressed in days--I love being a teacher. MC wears the baby's clothes too; we're talking a six year old in 18 months.

I want to know how you got them out of the peds office so quick! That has NEVER happened to me!!! Even when I take only 1 of the 4 in! Glad to know, though, I'm not the only one who gets overwhelmed with sibling love...

I'm not going to tell you how quiet my house is tonight. Kids are 800 miles away, hubs is at work and I'm watching Glee.

Oh, honey. How was I not already following you? Glaring oversight on my part. You deserve a medal for your day. Whenever me and my children go into public, it is nothing less than a traveling circus, a messy, crying, slobbering, traveling circus. And that's just me, you should see the kids!

Xanex for the dentist's? Now that is genius.

I see your three kids at the dentist and raise you eight at the grocery store. It was an emergency of the diaper variety or there is no way on earth I'd have tried it. It was scary. Super scary.
