It was all about the food!

Last night, Retro & I went to the wedding of a dear friend.  He was a "later in life" baby & his mother & late father were the sweetest older couple.  They were always out & about in the community.  Mrs. Ann used to write to social column for our local newsletter.  I hope the bride & groom won't waste much time in giving her a grandbaby!

The wedding was beautiful, the flowers were gorgeous, yada, yada, yada...but the food?  The food was fabulous!

The reception was held at one of the nicer clubs in the area & the Semi-Slackers may just have to join in about 15 years.  I had 1 Apple Martini & I decided I would rather just eat!  And y'all know how much I enjoy a good Martini. or 4.

As soon as we arrived, the waitstaff began circulating with trays of lamb chops, crab cakes & bacon-wrapped scallops.  I had one of each. I could have eaten 4 crab cakes & 6 bacon-wrapped scallops! I think Retro did eat 3 lamp chops.

Scattered through the clubhouse were different food stations.  Just the way I like it!  I'm not a big fan of lines!  I prefer to graze. There was a...

*Fruit & cheese table with imported & domestic cheeses & an antipasto platter with sauted asparagus, onions, squash, zucchini, eggplant & tomatoes.  The asparagus, squash & eggplant were excellent.  I don't eat tomatos & decided maybe this wasn't the best place for me to chow down on some onions.  Fried green tomatoes were also on this table.

*Carving table with roast beef & roast turkey breast with assorted rolls & such. I skipped this table to save room.

*Seafood table with shrimp, crab claws, raw oysters & a seahorse ice sculpture.  Okay shrimp may be kind of common, but how many of you have been to a formal reception with raw oysters!  I made Retro get me a plate full!  Yum-o!  The crab claws were excellent as well.

*Mashed potato bar.  This is my new favorite thing!  There were sweet potatoes, plain potatoes & shrimp mashed potatoes.  You chose your toppings from such things as red & green peppers, bacon, mushrooms, green onions, cheese & sawmill gravy.  The chef would saute your choices before adding them to your potato-filled wine glass.  I had shrimp mashed potatoes with green onions, bacon & cheese.  I was taking it easy.

*And the coolest thing was the pasta bar.  Yes, that's right.  Pasta Bar!  You could choose from penne or cheese tortellini & marinara or alfredo with your choice of toppings such as; chicken, shrimp, mushrooms, onions, red & green peppers, sun-dried tomatoes & parmesan cheese.  Again, the chef sauted all of your choices together.  My friend, Liz & I shared a double order of tortellini with alfredo.  De-lish!

Retro & our friends (the guys, of course) enjoyed picking at me about eating almost as I did doing the eating!  I would have taken offense if I didn't think the dress I was wearing made me look thin. :) Seriously y'all, it was good!  I was a little let down by the just white cake, but it was still very good.

The band was fabulous too!  We had a blast!  But, note to self:  Don't let Retro drink more than you at anymore parties.  And go get your eyes checked THIS week.  You have wrinkles, glasses wouldn't matter.

Best Wishes, Sheftall & Lauren!  Thanks for throwing a fabulous party!

And hey to my fellow party-goers who read- Stephanie, Liz, Ann & Beth Ann.

Finally, if you have wrinkles (like me) you must enter MY GIVEAWAY  for a $120 face firming product!!

That sounds like so much fun! Food stations are so much fun! My mom has said for a long time that when I get married (a long long way down the road) she wants food stations too! Have a great Sunday!

I usually prefer a sit-down dinner to stations or buffets at weddings, but that food sounds fabulous!! The food makes the wedding (along with the music) for the guests!

That wedding sounds divine! I know the food stations are really becoming popular up here too. We attended a Christmas party at a local club and there was a pasta station. I just about died and went to heaven!

You and I have very similar tastes in food. (I don't eat tomatoes either and raw oysters - YUM!) I'm starving after reading this post.

Good food at a wedding? Sign me up!! Usually I just drink and wait for wedding cake (I love wedding cake) because the food is choke-able to say the least! LOL
