FAB-U-LOUS!!!

New Year's Eve was the best! Retro & I went to my favorite restaurant with some of our dearest friends.

I love Natalia's because I'm a total foodie! My dream job would be a judge on Iron Chef America. My stomach, however; may not agree with that. I think it's so cool to be able to order some of the things the chefs make on Food Network like Gnocchi with Truffle Sauce, Fois Gras, Risotto & Ossa Buco. Not that I ever order any of that, but I could.

The food was wonderful as usual. Natalia is from Northern Italy, she rarely cooks anymore but all the recipes are hers. She's the sweetest lady & a hell of a good cook! What movie was that from?

For an appetizer, I had the Baked Oysters with Smoked Salmon & Morney & Retro had the Lobster Bisque. But her crab cakes are fabulous.

As for the salad course, we had the house with Baby Greens & Balsamic Vinaigrette & it was delicious, but next time I'll try the Pear Salad with Citrus Vinaigrette - hold the Maytag Bleu Cheese Crumbles. Not a fan of Blue Cheese.

Since I was drinking & didn't want to bother my tummy, I went with an old favorite for my entree; the Filet with Bearnaise Sauce served with asparagus & whipped potatoes. Yummy! Retro had the Seafood Stuffed Maine Lobster, which is excellent but when it comes to shellfish, I've really started prefer crab. He usually gets either the Dover Sole Caper Meuniere or the Triple Cut Lamb Chops with Herb Wine Sauce. All excellent!

Dang. Now I AM STARVING!

To finish off a fabulous meal, I had the Chocolate Valronda. I've had it on my mind since Jess's post on Tavern on the Green, but I usually get the Creme Brulee. I LOVE Creme Brulee!!! Love it! Great. Now I really want some Creme Brulee.

The poison(s) I picked for the night was Apple Martini(s) because it's kind of a little tradition, but I also had a Peach Martini just to mix things up a bit. I'm fun like that!

Thanks to Mouse, Richard the waiter got quite an education & some relationship advice that may or may not have applied to him. But he was super awesome & I like an attentive waiter, especially when I'm a little tipsy. And I would like to think he had fun with us, especially since Retro's a good tipper.

Thanks to my Babes & their hubbies for a fabulous, yet pretty much uneventful (that's a good thing) New Year's Eve once again.

I already can't wait till next year!!! Or maybe Valentine's...

*I bet y'all didn't think my NYE post would be all about food, did y'all?*

But the best thing about New Year's was the next morning, Retro got up with the children & kept them from bothering me while I slept in - till 11 am. Now if that ain't romantic, I don't know what is. (after 11+ years of marriage & 3 kids, of course)

Good grief! I've never even heard of that food before. It certainly wasn't steak and potatoes, now, was it? LOL! I'm so glad you got to sleep in! Lord knows you deserve it!!

The white chocolate bread pudding is my favorite, but I have to make myself get it instead of my old standby -- creme brulee! Yum. I'm hungry too!

Your meal looks fantastic! OMG.

I love food. I've never seen Iron Chef, though. I watch Top Chef- even in reruns. I realized it was probably too much when I actually said of a sauce that I made, "The consistancy is a little off, but the flavor profile is there." I need to find something else to do with my time.

You and Retro look so cute!! You still look like you might get stopped by the police to make sure you are old enough to be driving. I know people are shocked that you are old enough to have 3 children!! Happy New Year time for sure! xoox
