Let's talk ornaments...

But first, let's talk about my Christmas wish.

Peace on earth. Yeah right, I can't even get peace in my house! My wish is for each of you to click over to Parenting by Dummies for the First Annual Merry Effing Christmas Photo Contest & vote for #6.

Feel free to vote every day & tweet 24/7. I'll love you forever. Now if you want to go ahead & post my campaign poster on your sidebar, I'll be your very best friend! Seriously.

Now. Where was I?

One of my most favorite things about Christmas is my ornaments. I love, love, love my collection of blown-glass ornaments. I have several Christopher Radko, a few Waterford & some that I've gotten on trips. And many, many personalized ones. Every year I try to get at least one new one that represents something going on in our lives.

So I present you with the Semi-Slacker "big" Christmas tree & some of my favorite ornaments.

Like all those gifts under my tree. You too can have this look because the have tons of cutesy decorative EMPTY boxes at Hobby Lobby!

Here we have a CR train with Santa & one that's close to my heart, 3 children decorating a tree. 2 girls & a boy. Sound familiar? And if you look really close behind the tree, you can see a pickle. Are y'all familiar with the German pickle tradition?

This has got to be my all time favorite,
an ornament illustrating the Little Old Lady who Lived in a Shoe.
The green & yellow one is from the school.

Another big fave, a pair of pink booties that say Baby's 1st Christmas 2001 that I got with sassy. And my newest addition, Santa driving a John Deere tractor (from my Secret Pal).

And how much do you love this ornament my BFF got in NYC. It says SASSY!

These are some of the ornaments we had on our tree growing up. My parents made them when they were newlyweds.

Here's a conglomeration one some goodies; a cloisonne parrot, one representing my favorite night of the year New Year's, another ornament my parents made, a CR partridge in a pear tree & a cool disco ball representing my party days!

Dice? Dud. Bunko!!!

A CR Santa face, a Waterford bell & a UGA candy cane!

There's a few peaches here & there on our tree; Mary, Joseph & Baby Jesus; a dice I did for all the Bunko babes last year; a fish & a mermaid representing my love for the beach; a pink flower clip-on & 3 peas in a pod. Wonder what that one is for?

Another peach or two, more dice, a cocktail (self explanatory), the blue one my cousin made for Bo's 1st Christmas (it's decoupaged for the inside-really cool) & the abominable snowman from Rudolph (this one's Retro's because he loves the Bumble).
This year, I'm looking for a pill bottle or a computer, but definitely that Coke can ornament I saw at Cracker Barrel.

And I just thought I'd throw in our collection of nutcrackers for good measure. I'll let you guess which stocking is Sassy's.
Okay, so I don't know how to do the Mr. Linky thing & I don't feel like trying to figure it out, but I would love to see some of y'alls favorite ornaments. So do a post & leave a comment, so everybody (well all 20 of the people who read) can check out your collections.

I LOVE all your ornaments. Caleb got some CR ornaments from Brian's parents one year. They're so pretty.

Okay, so explain the pickle. My hubby is of German heritage, but I don't know this story! Thanks!

I'm totally voting for your photo. :)

I can't wait to have beautiful glass ornaments like you do!!! I've been using plastic balls for years because our cat thinks they are toys and has been known to knock the entire tree over before. I've decided once the cat leaves this world I'm going to buy all glass ornaments and have a gorgeous tree for once. LOL!!! XOXO

You have a beautiful tree and ornaments. My tree looks a bit messy at the moment because my kids keep ripping things off of it.

Your tree looks beautiful! Our tree is filled with ornaments that I made many years ago, the girls made or that were given to us. Lots of memories on our tree and so fun to decorate the tree and see them each year! Thanks for sharing your beautiful pictures. I love your nutcracker collection. Love & blessings from NC!

I love the tree and the mantle! I love Hobby Lobby...I promise, I went to that store six times while I was in Georgia. We don't have one in South Florida.

That is a SERIOUS tree my friend. I'm not loving my tree this year b/c I thought it looked a little trashy...colored lights, mismatched ornaments. But, the key, I think is packing it on more. If we had more things filling it, and a ribbon (really like the ribbon) maybe it would look better. I'll try to dress it up a little, then maybe I will consider posting pics of it on my blog!

My kids would break those in about two minutes flat.

Ornaments are all about the memories. What a lovely tree!

I think my favorite ornaments are the ones from Arizona---my home state---with the cactus and nativity, and all that.

Being out in Maryland now, these ornaments remind me of my roots.
