The party we had last night, that I was freaking out about the house over, wasn't for me. It was a surprise party for my daddy. That my children knew about. The real miracle is that they kept the secret.
It worked out good to have it on my birthday because he thought we were having a fish fry for me. He even made my momma make some tartar sauce.
He didn't catch on till he started seeing all his friends on the front porch. I'm good like that! We had a low country boil. Well, I hosted, decorated & bought the food, Annie & VB cooked! Without them, we'd have been in trouble!
However, I did manage to whip up 2 large batches of my signature cocktail. Y'all know what it is. And since some of you have asked, it's just Country Time pink lemonade powder, frozen lemonade concentrate (thawed), sprite & vodka (or rum, I prefer vodka). redneck, I know.
You can't taste the liquor at all, so be careful. or you might end up like my BFF at her hubs birthday party. I'm 2 for 2 on the whole surprise party thing.
So do you think throwing him a surprise party for his 60th birthday makes up for all the gray hair I gave him during my teen years?
Thank you to my sweet blog friend, Kimmie for the cute cupcake birthday card. And everybody for all your birthday comments!
Threw a party for my daddy last night & played Monopoly with Sass today without any (extra) prescription help. Now, THAT'S a miracle! saving up for the rest of the week

yay for you! I LOVE LOVE LOVE parties! and that drink sounds amazing!
redneck things are always the best and most delicious.
I'm a new follower now! Heart you.
Great job on the surprise party!!! And the lemonade cocktail sounds delish!
I take it that is the recipe for a "Pink Panty Pull Down?" Did you creat this concoction yourself? It sounds delicious, but how much lemonade powder and Sprite?
I wonder if a batch of pink panty pull downs counts as a dish to pass for Thanksgiving?
Oh, and Happy Birthday again to you and your Dad!
Happy, happy b'days to all at the Semi-Slacker home! Yes, You are now daughter of the year!! xoxo
Ok. Well, I guess down here in Louisiana, we just call that particular drink, "Pink Lemonade" and let me just say that I have drank many, many over the years...especially my college years at the Honky Tonk. And I will MOST DEFINITELY agree with you! The alcohol WILL catch up with you! Glad to finally have an "official" name to my drink of choice! Ha!!
You are a very special daughter to surprise your sweet Dad like that. I hope you had a great birthday too. Love & blessings from NC!
I'm glad it went well and that drink sounds goooood!
Redneck or not, that drink sounds great. I may have to make a big jug of it for myself this thanksgiving.
Nice work on the party! And happy belated birthday :)
Ooooh, that drink sounds good!!!! I have to be careful with those drinks where you can't taste the alcohol. That's how I ended up pregnant with the 2nd set of twins...enough said.
Glad you were able to pull off the surprise party!!
How fun! I've always wanted to throw a surprise party for someone! I'm glad he had fun! That cocktail sounds good!
Happy Bday, Daddy!
Wow! Sounds like a huge success :)
Happy belated birthday to you and your daddy!
