Princess Perfect

Since the Semi-Slackers will be in Disney World on her actual birthday, we had Baby Girl's party on Sunday. Of course, it was a "Princess Party".
Bo was in rare form, so I didn't take as many pictures as usual. Plus, the third child thing. ;)

I can't believe my baby is 3 years old. She is growing up so fast. Seems like just yesterday I was big asthesideofabarn. And it only took me 3 years to lose it. She is definitely the one that's going to keep us on our toes. But she's so stinkin' cute.

Now if we can totally get rid of the diapers (night time pull-ups), causing Huggies stock to drop because we have been supporting them for almost 5 years, we'll be out of the baby business. And no there won't be anymore because I'm not the Virgin Mary. Needless to say.

Now, onto the party...

The Royal Buffet Table

I try to pull out the silver & crystal at least once a year & what better time than a Princess Party. We had chicken salad (my mom makes the best) with crackers & pita crisps, chocolate-dipped strawberries, fruit salad, pickles & cheese (cheese cubes & baby dills on a toothpick), pigs in a blanket (a party staple around here) & star-shaped rice krispy treat magic wands (the Semi-Slacker version: RKTs from the deli at Wal-Mart), rainbow goldfish & cheese puffs (they are 3).

The Castle Cake

Babycakes, SIL's cake business, made the chocolate, pink castle cake as per requested by the princess herself. My children love some chocolate cake. Bo won't even touch yellow cake. And Sass & I stayed up late Saturday night making these chocolate-dipped pretzel rod magic wands. Did I mention Retro was conveniently out of town? I'll remember that at WDW.

The Gift Table (s) & chair & floor

Lots of fabulous gifts! Lots. And some cute clothes that weren't her sister's. Trying to get them opened & recorded (gift & gifter) was pure-T hell! That's the worst part of birthday parties. Every year I say we're going to wait & open the gifts after the party, but that has yet to happen. What are your thoughts on this? Oh & two words, Moon Sand.

If you look in the upper left corner, you will see the castle "jumpolene," or bounce house to you & me, also as per requested by the princess.

The Princess

I know this is not the best picture of Baby Girl, her braid was failing out from too much jumping, but I wanted ya'll to see this smocking. It's Cinderella & her horse-drawn carriage & the dress is pink & white striped. It was Sass's & one of my favorites. It will be going in the cedar chest for any future granddaughters.

Would ya'll look at these fabulous shirts my BFF made for Baby Girl to wear at WDW!!! The Minnie one has her name on it & Sass has requested one as well. They will be wearing these with hot pink shorts/skorts. And don't you know she's going to eat up all the attention the other shirt will get her on her big day. I'm still trying to decide on the bottoms for this one. I have some multi-colored (with mainly aqua, hot pink & green) pants with it now, but I'm not sure.

Now for the cake! I love this picture because you can see everybody watching. Okay.

Ready.

Set.

Blow!!!
She blew her bangs & I blew the candle at the same time so she would think she was doing it herself. Worked like a charm. Feel free to use this tip.

Looks like a great party! Food, cake, presents, bounce house, and birthday girl. All the things that make a party. The dress is so cute and I love the T-shirts. At first I thought Minnie had a Pinocchio nose, but then I realized you blacked out her name. Duh.

I love, love, love Sass's party! Where was our invitation? Just joking. But, my Gawd! Did you invite the whole stinking neighborhood?! Alise had a dress similar to Sass's but it was blue. I still have it and can't seem to part with hers, either. I know you guys are getting excited about WDW!! I can't wait to see the pics from the Land of Magic!!

Cute party! I love the cake and the smocked dress. I'm all about some smocking. I dread the princess stuff. I'm so not princess material, but if Blair likes it, Blair will get it. You know.
About the gifts... I haven't been through this yet, but I've talked to friends who have and feel the same way I do. I think that the kids should open the presents at the party, because teaching your kids the gift of giving is not complete until they get to see the person honored get the gift -- especially for older kids who pick out the gift to give. If the kids don't open the gifts at the party, I think it takes away from the guests who are so excited about giving the birthday kid a gift. Did I make any sense at all?!

With 2 girls, I have been there and done that with the Princess stuff. What fun!!!! Looks like you all had a wonderful party. I am so jealous that you all are going to Disney. Have fun!!!! I love the smocked dress. I used to make smocked dresses for my girls and like you, have saved the special ones for future grandchildren. Thanks for sharing all the awesome pictures. Such a special party for an extra-special young lady. You win the best Mom award. Isn't that a guy thing for the Dad to be out of town? Love & blessings from NC!
