Lessons Learned

Yesterday, was pretty interesting day for this Semi-Slacker Momma. However, I know have some lessons I learned to share with ya'll.

1. While we all love some good Mama Drama, cheerleading meetings are not the place to be diplomatic. I just hope there's as much "participation" with practices & games. It's only 26 girls. Enough said.

2. Children's Benadryl is not toxic. Cherry-flavored & obviously yummy, but not toxic. And there is no such thing as a "child proof cap". Adult proof maybe, but not child proof. 2-3 oz. may or may not make your almost 3-year-old "Otis Campbell drunk" for a little while, but the effects only last 4-6 hrs. The number to Poison Control is printed on the label. It also helps if you have a dr. friend. Thanks Kim!

3. You & your momma can recover a couch, with your favorite old comforter, in under 5 hrs. There may or may not have been some duct tape involved. You can't hide redneck. Just keep telling yourself, it's just for the children's TV room.

4. Your child may never learn to spell citizen, liberty or United States. No matter how many Webkinz you bribe her with.

*edited to add: she spelled United States right, missed symbols.

This post cracked me up!!! Thank you. And I too bribe with Webkinz but sadly I do it for my benefit. That being so that I can be the one to play online with them. I just love a little room decorating for cheap. $15 stuffed animal is hours of online game fun for mama. ha ha ha

I am going to have to lock up the Benadryl. When Evie is stuffy, she asks for it by name!

Your couch looks great. Doesn't matter about the duct tape as long as it looks good in the end... wanna come do mine?!

You mean you don't give Benadryl to your children on purpose when they don't need it according to the directions? Oh, I thought everyone did that.

"This is not a democracy. This is a Cheer-ocracy!" I'm pretty sure that's from the second Bring It On Movie. It was the first thing I thought of reading your post ha!

Love -'you can't hide redneck'! The couch turned out cute.

From the 'useless knowledge' section of my brain- "This is not a democracy. This is a Cheerocracy!" is from the FIRST 'Bring it on' movie. I know this as I have watched it 100,000 times (&I wonder why I can't get things done...) Good luck with the cheering thing!

Aww...spelling tests. I usually forget to pre-test my kids until the night before then kick myself in the butt when they don't know all the words. I hope Wyn did ok. I had her write the words she missed 10 times each on her pre-test.

Yeah... I had poison control in bright red numbers on all our phones for a while. I'm also pretty certain that CPS had our number, in bright red, on all their phones!!!

LOVE your redneck couch for the playroom!

Hey-I think that couch looks pretty darn good, y'all! I had to chuckle a little when I read #1.
Ha!
