The moment you've all been waiting for...

The Big Reveal!

After a month & a half of total clutter & chaos, the Semi-Slacker home is nearing completion on the makeover project!

My mother & I (with help from Annie) have cleaned out, reorganized & redecorated my entire top 2 floors! We are still in desperate need of new living room furniture, but Retro says we need to wait till the children get through trashing it. The basement (R's floor)furniture is nicer than the LR. And no one ever goes down there. whatever.

I am not a decorator & I have three children. My house shows. We are still waiting on some window treatments & wall arrangements. But other than that, this is the new & improved Semi-Slacker House.

The pictures are in random order because it's a pain to download them. And the length of this post should make-up for not blogging much lately.

The dining room. With plenty of peachy artwork. The table has butterfly leaves to sit 6. The dining "room" is an extension of the living room, which I do not like. I distinctly remember saying 'All I want is a formal dining room' when we were looking at house plans. And what happened?

Yes. That's a vacuum cleaner. At least it's an Electrolux.
The living room. Retro & Sass picked out the new rug. Alone. Seriously. The old one went directly to the TRASH. It was cream-colored, 8 years ago.
And now, here's the red room! Drum roll....

It's our bedroom! Very different, but I really like how it turned out.

We got a new paint job, new furniture AND new carpet. Our room went from being a plain Jane looking, worse furnished, less decorated collect-all room in the whole house to this lovely. Now all the children have their clothes (& crap) in their own rooms & the master bedroom looks like a master bedroom should look. Right??? Is it ironic that we waited till all the children were sleeping in their own beds before we finally got a king-sized one.

Eventually there will be drawings of all 3 of the children on that wall. Sass was 3, so I'm only a year & a 1/2 behind on Bo's. However, this is the first time this one's been framed. Need a gift idea for the Semi-Slacker Mom? Run over to Hobby Lobby & pick up 2 more of these frames. $59.99, but I got this one 1/2 off.

The furniture looks dark in this picture & my shoes will be going into my closet. But it was way too full. You didn't expect me to get rid of all the clutter, did you?

On to the kitchen. These cabinets were moved from the laundry room & the desk was added. The top hole will have doors. This is where I'm doing all my blogging from now. Think it'll make me cook more? Doubt it. This is my favorite new addition. And it was Retro's idea.

Did you notice my tremendous cookbook collection? The peach box is full of random recipes too.

The view from the kitchen sink. Which was full of dishes explaining why it wasn't photographed.

The sun room/children's TV room. We're kicking them out of the living room & BANNING them from my bedroom.

Baby Girl & PA have already made their selves at home. The windows have views of both our ponds & my in-laws house. on the other side of the pond.

Next, we have Bo's mini "man room". Coming in from downstairs. The door behind the entry is his closet.
The toy room. Yes it's still junky, but I am tired & I can always shut the door. The tunnel is on the other side of the Thomas chair & cardboard box. and 3 or 4 other boxes that you can't see. The cubbies are cute. Aren't they?

The sitting area. And the toddler bed (full of blankets) that I am saving. at least through this winter. It makes for a great sick bed. Very portable & they won't be pucking in your bed. Just a little tip. We learned a lot from the 2009 Rotovirus epidemic.

The sleeping area. And, wonders never cease, he has been sleeping up here by his self since we got the furniture last Friday. He's getting to be such a big boy (sometimes to my distress). But, that's a whole post in itself. No fru-fru on his bed. He barely can stand 1 other pillow on the bed.

Now we enter the princess wing. Or rather princess & Queen of the World.

Baby Girl's entryway into her room.

Sassy's entry way into her room. You can see Sass's from the bottom of the stairs.

Here's Baby Girl's room. Don't you just love how the stripes turned out? On the shelf is her lambie collection.
On our house, we have 3 dormer windows upstairs. From the outside of the house, I love them. From inside, I HATE them! They are way too narrow & long for all practical use. Kenny (the builder) is building storage chest window seats for each of the girl's rooms. So the center one, Momma & I turned into a dress-up area. Window treatment in the works.
We had Sass's room painted just a few years ago, but she was feeling left out. She has my SIL's canopy bed/bedroom suit & she loves the canopy, which was originally the dome type from the 70s. So we tweaked that & got her (& her sister) matching comforter sets. Did you notice the rug in the dress-up area also coordinates?

Do ya'll remember the zebra print & hot pink bathroom I talked about forever ago? Well now it's finished & looking cute. I'm sure we will have to change the girl's rooms 45 times between now & when they move out, but this one should work even through the teen years. Or not knowing Sass.
Okay, so there's the semi-slacker version of Extreme Home Makeover. I am sad to report that Ty did not show up. Does anyone even know what he's doing now?
As you can see, our home has a very "lived in" look. or rather "lived in with 3 energetic children". (Ya'll like my choice of wording, don't ya.) But we like it. And trust me, it's easier that way.
However, when we hit the lottery, this will be the Semi-Slacker home.
We all can dream, right?
I hope ya'll enjoyed the tour of my house. Ya'll come see us.

I love the last pic of the house you'll have when you win the lotto but why would you want to move out of the house you've got? It looks fantastic. And you made me feel so guilty with all the work you put into it you've inspired me to get off my butt and finish mine off :)

I know you are relieved to have this project finished! We're still in the midst of our paint updating... I still have over 8 different shades of beige on one wall where I am trying to decide. My goal is to have it done by the end of this week!!

Oh I recognized that canopy and dressers!! I had one just like it growing up! It was my "big girl bed" when I was finally out of the crib! My momma put a lacy canopy and matching bedspread on it and I had the dresser and mirror to match!! I had that bedroom suite until I was a freshman in high school!

Now that I am allowed to comment on your blog. My favorite room in the house is the zebra/hot pink bathroom! OMG...love it! It so fits your sassy chics too! Actually, I love it all. You've come a long way from the white walls you used to have. It looks great. Can't wait to see it in person. It's time for a party I think. With pink panty pull downs as the beverage of choice. It will go perfect with the hot pink zebra bathroom and the salmon sunroom.
