Maybe I should have listened...

When I was getting ready for college, Emma Ruth , kept telling me that I should be a nurse so I could marry a doctor.

I know, crazy, but whatever.

If you've been reading a while, you know that the Semi-Slacker Denali has a private parking space at Primary Pediatrics. Okay, I don't really but I should.

So yesterday after dropping Fritz off at the vet for a re-check from the golf cart incident, we made a trip to our favorite place. I don't know which doctor we pay more; the pediatrician or the vet.

At the beach, Bo scrapped his chin on the pool on like Tuesday. It was healing fine, but par for the course, a week later it got infected. Lovely.

I didn't need to marry a doctor, I just need my own prescription pad. I can diagnose most of their ailments, just can't treat them. So I get to visit PP, catch up with my peeps & give them $40 (at least) to get some meds.

Then about 4 hours after we got home, Baby Girl cuts her knee on a piece of glass from a broken candle. It was bleeding pretty good & the first thing I thought was that we were fixing to make a return trip, but luckily the cut didn't any major medical intervention. A little peroxide, Mupirocin ointment (from Bo's boo-boo) & a couple of band-aids & she was good too go.

I'm thinking about keeping a record of current injuries & aliments on my sidebar.

Oh, I have been there so many times and could really use that prescription pad. Great for us that 2 of the 4 drs. in my children's dr. practice live around the corner. Waiting for that over the counter Strep test (they have a urine infection test). Still hoping!

Your post about this brings back memories of all those random trips to the Pediatrician. You understand - the tick bite needs antibiotic so we don't have Lyme Disease; broken bones, "what is this"?, etc.

I often referred to myself as a doctor, too. More times than not, I had the correct diagnosis. If they would just take my word for it and call in the prescription! haah xoxoxo

Oh, I am pretty sure that the folks at Poison Control once knew me by name/caller ID!

It is terribly convenient for me that ALL of my aunts on my father's side are nurses, one of them literally had a closet full of prescription samples.

Your family cracks me up - I don't know how you stay sane with all the medical mishaps!

I have an aunt that constantly has a kid at the ER for something. She has four of them and it's always a broken bone or an illness of some sort. The most recent was the scariest yet - her 15 year old came down with Spinal Meningitis!

I can tell you it comes in handy to have doctor connections. My mom works for a pediatric eye doctor father and son team and I got really sick in February. UT's student health couldn't see me for 2 days and I knew if I went to the ER, I'd be there forever so I had drugs called in from VA to TN by the eye doctor!

Glad your kiddies are both okay though!

Yikes! I have luckily only had to go to the ER once ever with any of the three kids but that must be dumb luck because when B was little we seemed to be at the doctor all the time for something!

That was me when I was little. Always getting hurt.

It's going to be a long summer isn't it? Pinkie has already hurt her chest and her foot and I just know Miss Priss is going to get her first visit from Aunt Flo sometime this summer. Lucky me!

I hear ya! That is why I named myself Doctor Mommy... even though I'm not, I may as well be a doctor. I can diagnose just about anything these days, and then we go to our family doctor for him to confirm my diagnosis and to get the meds!

I used to say the same thing - give me a prescription pad and I'm in business. I almost always knew what my kids' ailment was. Now I work in the medical field - of course!
