Dear TLC...

Here's my thoughts on last night's J&K+8 (which will be rebroadcast tonight at 8/9 CNT).

TLC needs to get this family off the air immediately. They started this train wreck & they should end it. Dr. Phil, Dr. Drew, Oprah, somebody needs to intervene & help this family! In private!

Jon needs to get a job outside of the home & some Wellbutrin. Kate needs some Prozac & a nursing gig 3 days a week.

I hope they have some money in savings because they are going to need to hire some permanent full-time help. If TLC continues the reruns, they should make enough in royalties to cover so of this.

If money gets tight, Kate can go back to dressing like a momma & give up the constant spray tan. A mommy pony, like the one I sport, wouldn't hurt.

Jon & Kate need a vacay ALONE. They need to rekindle their relationship. I think the love is still there, they are just tired! Retro & I have started having a weekend getaway about every 6 months for this exact reason. Jon needs a break from the children & Kate needs a bit of a reality check.

I really felt sorry for her last night. Granted, she can be pretty bitchy, but so can I & I only have 3 children. I can tell she still loves Jon, but she is hurt. Who wouldn't be?

I think we should start a letter-writing campaign to TLC. If Season 5 ends with a divorce, I will lose all respect for The Learning Channel. Should I suggest a Blogger Boycott?

I like the way you think Semi. You nailed it. Your advice is spot on. We should call you Dr. Semi. They need to do something fast. Too much at stake here.

I did not watch but I agree they need to STOP immediately before any more damage is done! The problem is the money and the lifestyle have become more important than the reason they started all of this THEIR FAMILY!

I totally agree. I don't fault them for doing the show, because if someone wanted to do one on my family and give us boocoos of money, I totally would have done it too...I hope they get it together, and stay together not only for the kids, but for each other as well. The kids wont benefit at all if they are not in love...

Very well said.

I couldn't agree with you more. And I think we SHOULD boycott--did you hear that last night's show had twice the amount of viewers than the show normally gets--I guess it doesn't help that I watched it twice :)

I agree. And they need to do the Love Dare! I can't believe how immature they were acting!

It's all so sad... I think TLC is partly to blame but who could fault J&K for the incredible initial offer? I saw some earlier episodes not too long ago and everything was just so different... J&K had something which I just don't see anymore. I feel terribly for K because if their marriage ends in divorce the bulk of the responsiblities will fall on her... no matter what they will. She's the mother and that's the way the cookie crumbles. No matter how you look at it it's just sad...

I agree with Imjustagirl!!

I missed it AGAIN, and I'm not even going to try and watch. I really don't care to see how this all plays out anymore.

But I'll happily slurp up your recaps :)

I cannot watch anymore because it is just too sad. I will take the Duggar family over them any day. Jon needs to grow up you don't decide after you have 8 children that you don't really want kids and want to party.

I have never watched one show, but I know much more about it than I ever wanted to. You are right Semi!! I do want to mention one trivial, shallow thing about Kate - her hairstyle drives me crazy! Get rid of that spike action in the back. Oh well, enough of that. A sad, sad tale. That's what reality TV will do for you. xoxo

I wrote something similar earlier today that will post soon! Wasn't it so sad!

Okay, I finally had some time to sit down and watch the DVRd episode. I was pretty put off by the way each of them were talking at the end. Here's why...

I LOVE my kids. But -- it really bothered me that all either of them were saying was, "It's about MY kids." "I'm here b/c of MY kids." HELLO????? Shouldn't it be OUR kids? And -- to be frank...yes, I love MY kids. But I do my best to put my HUSBAND first!

I'm of the firm belief that you HAVE to put your marriage ahead of being a mommy. Now, I may get bashed for this, but let's think about it... One day those kids will move on and make families. Who are you left with? YOUR SPOUSE! If you don't have a SOLID relationship with your spouse BEFORE your kids all move out, then it's likely your marriage will not survive. So, that's why I truly believe that marriage is before motherhood. Again, I LOVE my boys, but I LOVE my husband, too. The two loves are different, and I have to have a relationship with my hubby b/c he'll be the one by my side when those babies move out and find wives. I've seen too many marriages fall apart b/c mom and dad put the kids ahead of each other.

The J+K situation is sad...very sad. Neither of them looked happy at the end of the show. And it really bothered me that Kate was all "I don't want to mess up my make-up" when she started crying. Give me a flipping BREAK! Your make-up can wait my friend, but your FAMILY and your HUBBY need you!

I also think that J resents the fact that he's at home with the kids while she's out doing promotions, book tours, etc. Yes, it's his job/role as a dad, but it takes a special kind of daddy/hubby to give up his career to be a SAHD. It's not something all men can do...just like it's not something that all women can do (be a SAHM).

Okay, I need to shut up now. I should have just made my own post rather than typing a book in your comments. But -- I'm not a fan of the show. LOL! ;)

I have never seen this show. I obviously know what it is, but haven't ever watched. Sadly, I kinda want to start now! Maybe that really does make TLC evil, because all this family drama is making it seem really interesting to me, only this isn't The Hills, and these kids deserve real parents and a happy home life!

I haven't watched this show, but have obviously read about all the drama. Well said. I totally agree with you.

I agree, in priviate. I also agree that the marriage come before the kids. I don't watch the show, but it sounds like they have a rough road ahaed of them.

I watched the show and was so sad for both of them. If anything has been brought to light it's that no matter how many kids you have, treating your spouse as well as you did the day you married him/her is essential. That is the core of the family. On another note, even though they have been doing the show for a while and are used to the cameras, I couldn't imagine having the conversations they had ON TV. I don't wish to be in their shoes.

Great minds think alike!!! You've already read my blog post about it today so we're both on the same page about the whole fiasco with that show. It's just so sad and pathetic. And so avoidable....if Kate would just say "to hell with it all" and quit the show and focus on her marriage, she would be making an excellent choice for her family. I loved how she kept saying this was her "job" and she was doing it for the kids. I think the kids would rather have their parents together (and happy) than be on a national tv show. The really sad thing is that their kids are gonna grow up and realize that the show was more important to their parents than the marriage or the desire to keep the family together.

i think jon is done with her and the show. she kept saying that she was there and all jon would say is that he was there for the kids. ouch.
and seriously...how many times did kate need to remind us that she was doing the birthday party alone?
and if i were jon, i'd be salty too after all the crap she said about him in the tabloids.

Tsquared417 said...

I totally agree. I stopped watching the show a while ago b/c I can't stand Kate...but I felt so sorry for her on Monday. And the kids. And I felt a lot of anger towards Jon. I hope they help them and they need to get off the air.

Fabulous idea..you made very wise suggestions. Too bad she can't read your post. I think that they need NOT be doing a tv show!! HELLO..what about those little children. Yes- as I mommie, I know that I can be a monster too- that is why I DON"T have a tv crew following me around. There are numerous ways to make an income for your family. Look at all of us!
Have a fantastic day!

They really need to do what's best for the kids. And I don't think playing this out on television is the best thing for their children. A really sad situation.

Believe it or not, I actually caught an episode of this oh-so lucky family while I was in Florida! I've never watched it before and I thought, WHY in the WORLD are these people showing their lives to the rest of the world?! It was embarrassing to me.
