You've got to be kidding me!?!

Baby Girl has the shingles.

Seriously, if it's something out of the ordinary, we get it! I googled shingles in children and it said only 5% of children get it. Imagine that!

She hasn't had the chicken pox, but she did have the chicken pox shot. And apparently it's all related!

Friday evening when I was giving her bath, I noticed a large bump on her back & a cluster of three small ones on her chest. Over the weekend, the "rash" continued to spread from her chest to armpit. I took her to After Hours on Sunday morning & the doctor ruled out shingles because of the one on her back. He suggested a steroid cream, to no avail.

Last night, Retro googled red bumps on skin. BIG MISTAKE! Do not let your husband who overreacts about everything - google! (He thought Bo was autistic last year!)

Anyway...google comes up with BED BUGS! WTH? So I'm washing her new (since Christmas) Target comforter set & Bath & Body Lambie blanket, (The bugs could have come from Target!) vacuuming the clean floor, trying to decide where BG will sleep, listening to Sassy read & putting Bo to bed all while Retro is on the computer, FREAKING OUT!

This morning when she woke up, it was the worst yet! So we flip a coin to decide whether to burn down the house & start over or take her back to the doctor to see HER pediatrician. Retro decides he will take her to Dr. K.

Thankfully, she is not in pain (yet.) & is not contagious (anymore!) Fun times at the Casa de Crazy!

Poor sweet thing! My dad had that just after I broke out with chicken pox in high school! I wonder if she was around anyone with it recently?! Hope it isn't too bothersome and is over soon. I am BAD at googling symptoms!

Oh, this just breaks my heart (and laugh at your post at the same time!) My mom had them years ago and thought she was dying. She said they were very painful. I SO hope that your little one has a mild case and that she gets over them very soon!

Oh no! I hope she doesn't have to deal with any pain. Didn't know kids could get shingles. I got them in college when I was super stressed with exams, exposed to a kid with chicken pox and I had a sun burn.

Sorry to hear. My Son had shingles when he was 13. They gave him Valtrex. My daughter gets something that looks like shingles but it's called fifth disease. They put her on Valtrex and steroid cream. So glad she's not in pain.
