VD For Short

Around our house, Valentine's Day is no longer for lovers.

It, like all things at the Semi-Slacker Estate, is now for the children. Three school parties, 2 bags of chips, 48 cupcakes, 33 goody bags full of edible treats & 3 teacher gifts all for Thursday!

Sassy's Winter Break starts on Friday & we are headed for Beech Mountain come hell or high water.

Retro is not really the romantic type anyway.

He won't take me out to eat on Valentine's, unless it's to Natalia's (where we can get reservations) because all the good places will be too crowded. That also goes for the weekend closest to V Day.

Our first Valentine's Day together (we'd been dating about 10 mths.) I was away at college & all my roommates got flowers. I, however, received nothing. Needless to say, I was P.I.S.S.E.D. His excuse, "I tried to call the flower shop, but they wouldn't answer the phone." Imagine that! Ya think they might be busy delivering everybody else's flowers! was my response.

That weekend, I got like $100 cash with a sticky note that said "No more crybaby s#%*!" I still have the note.

And I still married him.

No worries, the next time February 14th rolled around he took his business to our local jewelry store where they always answer the phone!

You crack me up! I love your blog titles. And if it makes you feel better, I have never gotten flowers or candy or a card, on VD day! And I still married mine too. Happy Valentines Day!

Cracking me up, lady. I would much rather have the jewelry store stuff any day. Flowers die, jewels are forever.. =)

My husband and I are taking a day-long break from the 6 kids still at home, (and Desiree above, who is out on her own), on Valentine's Day this year, to take a Carried and Concealed Weapons class.

After 26 years and 10 babies, if that isn't love, I don't know what is.

I don't get flowers either but I tell him not to get me flowers unless it's something I can plant...don't think we are making the trip to look for snow since it's not suppose to be snowing up there this weekend...have fun!

I used to get a rose for every year together until we hit 12 now I might get 12-but I always say, "Spend the money on something else". This year Im crossing my fingers for a digital camera (its got pink polka dots-so its sort of VD) So much for romance!
My kids get a little candy box, and the girl gets 1 pink rose from daddy all prettied up. Its really sweet.
We dont go out either-its not worth the hassle.

Just the title of this post cracked me up!

And I don't think I'd mind the cash. Flowers die...

I don't blame you for marrying him. What a great sense of humor! We're not that into V Day either but since we haven't had time alone in a long time, we better do something this long weekend. (Hubby has Friday, Sat and Monday off.)

LOL, that is pretty much V-Day in our house, too. I am pretty sure my girls have NO idea that it is actually a holiday for romance and couples, but as like everything else, it is ALL ABOUT THEM.

I prefer Groundhogs Day!

I'm not good at buying gifts. I'm the slacker in our house. My DH will get the kids little treats and me flower. One year he didn't and I pouted. I'm thinking of making it a family day. No plans for us. I should pick something up for him.
