RIP Ratatouille

"Ratatouille" has been in our house for the last week & I don't mean the movie!

Sundance, you suck! Bad kitty (or titty, as Baby Girl says).

A mouse in my house! I'm freaking out! Not only in my house, in my bedroom!!! I don't care that we live in a pecan orchard in the country. I don't care that it's winter time & mice look for warm places. I don't want them in my house! Especially not in my bedroom! It's bad enough that I have to share the room with my family, but I will NOT share it with a rodent!!! PTL no children are sleeping on the floor in here anymore!!!

My first encounter with Ratatouille was during the week before last. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw something run from my bathroom into my room. I freak out, Retro -not so much. I put on my "ugg" boots & get the broom to flush him out! I chase him into my (nice, clean, organized) closet. Did I say I was FREAKING out! Retro set a trap. End of story. I told the children that I saw a mouse & Bo says "You saw Ratatouille!" Therefore, we named him Ratatouille.

All week I'm on mouse patrol. No more run-ins.

Then, last night, after a wonderful birthday dinner at Bonefish Grill. I settle down in my warm bed & start to fall asleep. I'm awoken by this noise BEHIND MY BED! Freakin out. I start beating on the headboard, wall, running a clothes hanger back there. He runs into the linen closet in my bathroom. I'm yelling for Rhett, he's asleep on the couch (as usual)! I get my boots on & start pulling out stuff from the floor (it WAS junky in there). At this point, Retro is in the bathroom with me, but he is busy (using it). I find the mouse & since I have no help, he hits the floor & runs into my big closet. We lost him. So I close the bathroom door & get back into bed with my hubby who will protect me. Hah!

A few hours later, I get up to tt. I sit down & guess who's in the potty room with me. Ratatouille! Our toilet is in an area of the bathroom by itself & a stand-up shower. So I'm in this tiny room with a mouse! I finish t-ing, throw the TP down (miss the pot, it goes on the floor), don't flush & slam the door! I felt like I could be the old woman at the beginning of the movie!

This afternoon, my dad came over to bring more traps!!! As he was setting the new ones (with pecans, not cheese) I checked the old one! And there he was! Caught! Dead! If you are reading this & you are one of those PETA people, please note that I do love animals & if you would like to come to my house & rescue any more rodents that feel frisky enough to enter my house, please feel free. Because if I have to deal with them, they're dead meat!

I've had a few run-in's with my own Stuart Little. So you can have Ratatouille. Seems only fair.

Wink.

Oh yes, we've had our problems with mice too. Knock on wood, we haven't had that problem yet this year. Don't jinx me!

You are not alone - I would freak too. Sorry for the little guy, though...

I can loan you one of our 7 cats. We will be more than happy to send one your way for mouse patrol. Daddy's golden retriever/husky mix killed a rodent in their house last week. She's still proud of herself for the catch.

That's the only drawback to living in the country... although I'm sure there are city mice too. Whenever we have a visitor, they always make their home in the pantry... can i just say ugh?!?! Mouse in the pantry means a lot of wasted thrown away food and a complete restock of the pantry... double ughhh

Glad you got Ratatouille!!

HA! He was probably the cutest little thing!!! He was probably not using the bathroom because he had to go...he was probably so scared that he went on himself. :(

I love the furry things. It's the bugs that I HATE!

I would've freaked too. I don't do rodents or insects. I would sooner move out of my house than sleep in the same house with a huge hairy spider or a weasly rat!

Personally, I think that story had a happy, wonderful ending :)

Our cat caught a mouse once and I freaked out and made a noise which scared the cat which then leads to the mouse running down a vent. The mouse died, but we didn't know that until we smelled something. That's my mouse story. It's hard to get a dead mouse out of a vent.
