Our "FairCation"!

I know the title is lame, but seriously, it was the slogan for the fair this year. It's getting close to 20 years, they're getting hard up for catchy sayings!

I only went to the fair 3 times this year. (There have been years I've gone 4 or 5 times!) Retro & I went Sunday for the concert, Aunt Crissy, Matt & I took all the children on Thursday & Friday, Retro & I took Sassy back so she could ride the rides & we could eat!

Since we are "regulars" at the fair, I've complied a list of
Top 10 Things To Do At The Fair:

1. EAT! We had hot dogs, pizza, gyros, fries, roasted corn, black-eyed peas & cornbread, fried Oreos, chocolate-covered strawberries & bananas on sticks, candy & caramel apples, funnel cake & ice cream! Sorry no pictures! However, the year I was prego with Bo, my friend Amy took a picture of me eating a turkey leg!

2. Go to a concert. This year - 38 Special, Last year - The Jonas Brothers. Entertainment for all ages!

3. Pony Rides & The Petting Zoo, my kid's love this, except Bo - he's not a fan of the ponies!

He prefers the ones in cages!

4. Ride the rides. The Wild Mouse is one of Retro & Sassy's favs! Crissy rode it with her on Thurs. & ME & Retro rode with her on Friday. That & the Ferris Wheel was ALL I rode.

Brooks found this "Fun House" ride, he did it about 10 times!

5. Check out the exhibits, Enter a contest. A couple of years ago,
I entered this picture of Bo (along with a few others)
into the photography contest. I didn't win, but got some good comments.

6. People watch. As I'm checkin' out everyone else, people are probably checkin' out my son & dying laughing! I know we were! (He was dancing!)

7. Visit with old friends. They reported like 400,000 people attended the fair. Isn't it crazy that with so many people there, every time we turned around, we saw somebody we knew. It's like that every year!

8. Play games. If you pay $5 to pick up 3 ducks, a cool Hannah Montana mini backpack can be yours!

9. Learn how they milk cows. (And get some free chocolate milk.) We never miss this exhibit in the dairy barn.

10. Have fun! After we leave we are always so tired, full & yucky feeling, but we can't wait to go back next year! (This was Matt's 1st year at this fair! She loved it!)

Fun! We went to the fair this year, too. I really look forward to going to the fair as my daughter gets older.

Great photos! Your kids are so beautiful. You make me miss the CA state fair - I used to go to that when I lived in Sacramento. They had pig races!

I can't wait to take Joe to a petting zoo like that.
